Damn the backup Running Backs..... Defense please!

I refuse to allow the Zeke suspension to change the way I view my Dallas Cowboys. I will not accept them going 3-3 over that six game span, nor will I lower my expectation to allow them to miss the playoffs. The Cowboys are one of the most talented teams in the NFL. They’re well coached, well ran (Hall of Fame owner), and now it’s time for them to prosper through the adversity. Losing Zeke is a huge blow, but you don’t go 13-3 because of one player (unless it’s Tom Brady). This team was successful because they are loaded with talented players. These professional athletes better dig deep and find me some guts. Strap up your chin straps, make sure those shoulders pad are on right, and kick ass out the gate! I hear all the talk about the backup running backs stepping up in Zeke’s absence, what about this defense?             The last time the Cowboys had a #1 ranked defense was 2003 (yards). They finished second in points allowed that year. They also had some pretty good

Can Alfred and McFadden step up?

Talent trumps all! Since the beginning of time talented people have always benefited for preferential treatment. We can go back to little sports, where the best player was the one that got to play all the time. The player that was viewed as the star could do no wrong in the coach’s eyes. In a way I understand because as a coach, college university, or professional organization, you want the best players on your team. Sometimes that means overlooking the baggage that player may carry with them. Zeke Elliot is the true definition of a talented player and he has benefited greatly from being talented at what he does. It appears that his baggage has caught up with him.             I’m not going to address the specifics of the domestic violence case that Zeke was a part of. I’m not the type of person to come out and defend any man that wants to put his hand on a woman. On the same token, I will not condemn a man that has been wrongly accused.  However, the

Positional Group Review: Defensive Line

As a fan there isn’t many things more exciting than seeing a defensive linemen fire off the ball, swim move or rip past an offensive linemen and drill the quarterback. If you’re a Cowboys fan it’s been a long time since we’ve seen that from a defensive linemen. The last great pass rusher to play for this team was Demarcus Ware. Man does that seem like a lifetime ago! Ware was an amazing player and a future hall of famer. I almost feel spoiled having watched Ware for so long. I feel like the Cowboys should have a great pass rusher every year and that just isn’t the case. It has been even harder watching the “pass rusher by committee” that the Cowboys have had since Ware’s departure. The funny thing is the Cowboys have some talented players with the potential to be star pass rushers. They just need to put it all together and we may see that happen this year.             The Cowboys have a few young inexperienced players that they hope can step up this season and be do
