Grey Storm Clouds on the Cowboys Season!!!!

Imagine a cloudy day with some gray storm clouds. You take your child out to the playground because it’s been cloudy all day. A few drops fall but it’s nothing to concern yourself with. Then after being at the playground for about 45 mins the sky opens and a down pour begins. That’s how it feel right now as a Cowboys fan. All season we looked up and saw the grey storm clouds, but we went outside anyways. We knew Zeke was getting suspended because the NFL always wins, there are only so many courts to appeal to. The slight drizzy started in the Falcons game when we were willing to chalk that up as a bad game. Then the sky opened up and all hell broke out in the Eagles game. The Cowboys are in the middle of a storm and they don’t have the coaching staff to rescue this team.             Why does it appear that everyone knew Zeke Elliot was being suspended but the Dallas Cowboys? When the suspension came down this past summer, the first thought was tha

The Cream Always rises!!!

Today's game against the Eagles will be the Cowboys biggest game of the season. Most fans and experts have already concluded a lost for the Dallas Cowboys. This is a divisional game so you can throw the records out of the equation. The Eagles are dealing with most of the same injuries as the Cowboys. This game will come down to which coaching staff can motive his players to execute the best game plan. I don’t want to talk Cowboys vs Eagles in this blog. I want to discuss the possibility of the Cowboys putting together a dominate defensive unit. What? I know you’re think this guy is crazy but follow me.             Rob Marnielli is a good defensive mind. His greatest skill is getting the most out of the players that are available to him. Remember when George Selvie had 7 sacks on the season. What about when Jason Hatcher led the team with 11 sacks. Marinelli has the ability to put guys in the right position. His biggest flaw is that he trust his scheme too much and

Matching up with the Eagles... Defensively

If the Cowboys want any chance at beating the Eagles, that defense has to play better than is has all season. Adjustments have to be made and Marinelli is going to have to coach the best game of his life.  The biggest adjustment should be the usage of Jaylon Smith. If he is still hurt, or still recovering I'm ok with that. Whatever is going on with him, he isn't an effective replacement for Sean Lee. He takes bad angles against running backs and is terrible in coverage. If they're going to use Jaylon Smith let him rush the passer. Blitz his ass!  Philly is too good a team to allow Smith to make the mistakes he has been making all season. If he isn't deep enough in his coverage drops that can be six points. If he shoots the wrong gap in run support that can be six points. Philly is an explosive team and big gains turn into point for them fast.          The strength of this Cowboys team is the Defensive front. It'

Matching up with the Eagles Offensively

Even the biggest Cowboys fans has to recognize that the Cowboys have an uphill battle to fight on Sunday vs the Eagles. As much as it pains me to admit, Philly is the best team in football this year. They have a dominating defense lead by a vicious defensive front. Most teams (Cowboys included) struggle to generate a solid defensive line rotation. They have one or two players that can ball and then two other solid players. The Eagles have four legit starters that could star on any team on the league. Then the have a 1st round rookie that would probably be the best pass rusher on any other team. Chris long is great in run support and does enough to create push in the passing situations. That's six guys that Philly can trot out on the field and wreck a game plan.        I can count Sundays lost against the Falcons as a bad game. It was the first game without Zeke. Tyron Smith didn't play, and losing Sean Lee was the straw the broke the camel's back.

Five Keys to beating the Atlanta Falcons!!!!

Why does everyone continue to say that the Cowboys defense is only good because the offense can control the clock? Isn’t that how good teams are constructed. The offense helps the defense and the defense helps the offense. It’s called balance. The Cowboys didn’t create or originate this methodical approach to winning games. This is how football was played in the 60s, 70, and 80s. In those eras, quarterbacks weren’t throwing the ball 30+ times a game. Wide receivers weren’t catching 8-10 passes. In that era you ran the rock, played good defense, and maintained discipline. It’s called good football! Yes the Cowboys defense benefits from the offense possessing the ball for seven minutes. The offense also benefits from the defense forcing teams to possess the ball for 5-7 minutes and holding a team to three points. The Dallas Cowboys are a complete team on both sides of the ball, and they play complementary football. Just like the teams from the 60

The Begin of the Next Great QB..... Dak Prescott!!!!

On October 23, 2006, the Dallas Cowboys were taking on division rivalry New York Giants. Drew Bledsoe had been stinking it up the entire season and most fans wanted to see the young backup quarterback Tony Romo. Romo had an amazing preseason that year and dazzled Cowboys nation with great throws, and even better athleticism. In comparison to Drew Bledsoe’s two left feet, Romo was Michael Vick! It was that Giants game when Coach Bill Parcels has seen enough of Bledsoe and turned to Romo. Tony Romo would go onto have a great career with the Cowboys. More importantly, Romo was the savior of the franchise after seeing Troy Aikman retire. Fast forward 10 years and the Cowboys may have found them their next Troy Aikman.             While Tony Romo had a great career, it wasn’t without turmoil. He struggled in the postseason. Missed most of the 2010 and 2015 seasons with a broken collarbone. Throw in that Romo didn’t practice much of the 2014 season because he had a fractured

Five Keys to beating the Chiefs!!!

I must admit that I’m most excited about this Chiefs game, than any other game the Cowboys have played this season. Beating the Redskins was bitter sweet; because they weren’t supposed to be good this year. I thought the Cowboys would roll the Broncos, but they laid an egg. The Packers have put the Cowboys out the playoffs the last two times and I was excited about seeing that game. There is something different about this Chiefs game. It feels a lot like the Steelers game from last season.             Remember when everyone said the Cowboys couldn’t beat the Steelers at home, they’re too young. The Steeler had the veteran QB, the star receiver, the star running back, and the home field advantage. The only difference between the Steelers last season and the Chiefs this season is the home field advantage. The Chiefs have the veteran QB in Alex Smith, who is an MVP candidate. Their star receiver comes in a 6’6 250lbs package, Travis Kelce. Kareem Hunt has been an amazing ru

The Time is now Defense!

The time is now for the Dallas Cowboys! I’m not going to diminish how important Zeke Elliot is to the success of this Cowboys team. The reality is that he is probably going to serve this six game suspension at some point. Even if he pushes it back a week or two, the NFL is going to win. Personally, I would like to see him serve the suspension now because the team appears to be gelling together. They are more equipped now after a two game win streak, to make a run at Philly for the division lead. What has to happen for the Cowboys to keep the season trending upward?             The Dallas Cowboys are in a perfect position after 8 weeks. Their record sits at 4-3 and they didn’t look good the first five games of the season. Since the week six bye week the Cowboys have been playing amazing. Say what you want about the quality of opponent, there aren’t many great teams in the league anyways.             The Defense has been boning up since giving up two straight 30-point

Blatant Double Standard for the Eagles against the Cowboys

Wait just a got damn minute! I got a bone to pick with the so-called “NFL Talking Heads.” What is with the blatant double standard between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles? When it comes to the Eagles it’s they’re so good, Carson Wentz is amazing and their defense is out of this world. When it comes to the Dallas Cowboys it’s they’ve struggled this year, they haven’t played anyone, and their defense is garbage. These two teams have played and beaten all the same bad teams. If the bad teams are good, enough to put Eagles at the top of the power rankings, then whey do the Cowboys catch so much hatred from the talking heads? It’s a simple answer the media loves to hate the Cowboys, because fans love to hate the Dallas Cowboys.             The Dallas Cowboys are currently on a two game winning streak after starting the season 2-3. The Cowboys look like a different team since coming off the bye week. Zeke Elliot has been on fire with back to back 150 yard rushin

Five Keys to Beating the RedSkins!!!!

Ok Cowboys nation, we’ve had a few days to come down off the high of beating a terrible 49ers team. Don’t get me wrong the Cowboys needed a win last Sunday and it didn’t matter who it was against. What gets me, is the overreaction to the win. Before beating the 49ers the Cowboys had a struggling defense, the offensive line wasn’t looking good, and Zeke had taken a step back. After the win against the 49ers, the Cowboys have soared in power rankings, has the best offensive line in football, and the defense is now a work in progress; what a difference one game makes.             The Dallas Cowboys have been inconsistent in this 2017 season. After six games, the offensive line appears to have gelled. I like Cooper at left guard over Chaz Green, because that is Cooper’s natural position and he is powerful player. This defense is and will continue to be a work in progress. Marinelli has his hands full with personnel rotations and secondary packages. I would love to see him
