Boys v Packers..... Must see 2017

Cowboys fans always expect the most of their team. Yes, we may be looking at our team through blue and silver colored glasses. Doesn’t change the fact that the Dallas Cowboys are one of the most talented teams in the NFL. The NFL network recently did their top one hundred player rankings (based on the players opinion), and the Cowboys had seven players on that list. If you do the math, the Cowboys accounted for 7% of the player on the list! Only one of those seven players came from the defensive side of the ball. That is also 32% of the Cowboys starting depth chart (22 players). It’s easy to see why the Cowboys fan base is so excited.
After a very successful 2016 season the expectations are, sky-high for this year’s Cowboys team. Dak and Zeke are going into their second season. The Cowboys had a very solid offseason, and they will be returning all the same players on the offensive side of the ball. This success has also garnered them the first place schedule for the NFC East. That means the Cowboys will be playing the first place teams of the NFC Conference from last season. We are going to see many good matchups with the Cowboys. Which should equate to some very entertaining football this season. There is one matchup that I’m most excited to see and that’s the one against the Green Bay Packers!

The Cowboys and Packers have had some very recent history. In 2014 the Packers put the Cowboys out the playoffs in the divisional round. This was the Dez Bryant catch or no catch game. The Cowboys were able to beat the Packers in the regular season in 2016 but when the games matter most, the Packers have had the Cowboys numbers.

The Packers ended the Cowboys season last year in the divisional round of the playoffs. The rookie quarterback Dak Prescott lead the Cowboys to a game tying field goal late in that game before Aaron Rodgers made an amazing throw to put the Packers in position to win the game on a field goal. That game left a sour taste in the mouths of Cowboys fans and I want to see how these Boys respond. I want to see that this game left a sour taste in their mouths as well. I hate to play the, “they should have won game;” because there are games that the Cowboys won that they could’ve lost. This game was a very hard fought game that came down to one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history making one of the greatest throws in history. When they meet October 8, 2017, I expect fireworks.

Marinelli..... Keep being special!

It was a time not so long ago when Jason Hatcher had a pro bowl season with 11 sacks. Hatcher was probably the last dominate pass rusher for the Dallas Cowboys. Since joining the team in 2013 Rob Marinelli has been the leader of the “JAG” (Just A Guy) committee, when it comes to pass rushers. He’s had some solid linemen, but none has been special. That probably will not change much this upcoming season.                 Drafting Taco Charlton was taking a position of need. Was he the best player available at his position? Only time will tell. Can he step in week one and be the pass rusher the Cowboys hope he can be? We will just have to wait in see. There are many questions surrounding Charlton, and he play was have to answer them. The consensus is that Charlton is a very talented but inconsistent player. He has shown flashes of being special at the coll...

We need you Dez!!!!!

With all the great and exciting new things going on with the Dallas Cowboys, its easy to forget about the great things they’ve had. The Cowboys have a great young nucleus but they also have some really good veteran pieces as well. Sean Lee made his first all-pro team last season and is considered one of the best linebackers in football. Jason Witten will retire as one of the best tight ends to ever play this game. Then that leads me to Dez Bryant, the “X-factor”. Since coming into the league in 2010 you have amazed Cowboys fans with your brilliant showcase of physical attributes.  Your body control, leaping ability, and overall physicality is second to none. The last two years have been tough on you health wise but this team will need you in order to make a super bowl run.             All great offenses usually have a good to great quarterback, a good to great running back, and ...

Calling on General Garrett

I have written a number of blog post about what we, as fans, expect from the players on this Cowboys team. Now let’s put some responsibility at the feet of Jason Garrett. In order for the Dallas Cowboys to make the jump to being a championship team they will need an A+ effort from their General. Jason Garrett is coming off an amazing season with the Dallas Cowboys  which lead to him receiving the coach of the year award. He was able to guide his team to a 13-3 record, a division title, and the best record in the NFC. They eventually lost to the Packers in the divisional round, but the Cowboys still had a good season. I still don’t think we have seen the best of Garrett’s coaching abilities. Since the three straight seasons going 8-8 from 2011-2013, Garrett has been an above average coach. It should be mentioned that in those three season the Cowboys playoff chances can down to the last game of the season. Some people blame Romo for those loses and some b...
