Blatant Double Standard for the Eagles against the Cowboys

Wait just a got damn minute! I got a bone to pick with the so-called “NFL Talking Heads.” What is with the blatant double standard between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles? When it comes to the Eagles it’s they’re so good, Carson Wentz is amazing and their defense is out of this world. When it comes to the Dallas Cowboys it’s they’ve struggled this year, they haven’t played anyone, and their defense is garbage. These two teams have played and beaten all the same bad teams. If the bad teams are good, enough to put Eagles at the top of the power rankings, then whey do the Cowboys catch so much hatred from the talking heads? It’s a simple answer the media loves to hate the Cowboys, because fans love to hate the Dallas Cowboys.
The Dallas Cowboys are currently on a two game winning streak after starting the season 2-3. The Cowboys look like a different team since coming off the bye week. Zeke Elliot has been on fire with back to back 150 yard rushing games. Dak is back to spreading the ball around and not looking only in Dez’s direction and the defense has been on fire. Before you go spouting that bullshit about the Cowboys not playing anyone, who have the Eagles played?
The Philadelphia Eagles are 7-1 and are a good team; I won’t take anything away from them. Their wins have come against Redskins (twice), 49ers, Giants, Cardinals, Chargers, and Panthers. The two best teams the Eagles have played up to this point are the Kansas City Chiefs and the Carolina Panthers. They lost to the Chiefs and Carolina may be vastly overrated. Cam Newton has been terrible this season and if Cam doesn’t start playing better they will miss the playoffs.

The Dallas Cowboys wins have come against the Redskins, Cardinals, 49ers, and Giants. The Cowboys have lost to the terrible Broncos (they do have the best defense in the league) the Rams (5-2), and the Packers (with Rodgers). Does anything look familiar? The Eagles and Cowboys have played and beat all the same garbage teams. Why is there so much love for the Eagles and so much hate for the Cowboys, because ESPN needs to continue to get viewers.

How to make a Return Sean Lee?

I was born in the 80s. That means that I lived through the greatest era of wrestling, the 90s-2000s. We don't have enough time in one blog to go over all the things that era of wrestling got right. One thing they did exceptionally well was wrestler returns. The Cowboys could steal a page out the WWF (now WWE) playbook as it pertains to Sean Lee's return. Daily build up, pyrotechnics, and a heel! Every great return needs a heel. Stings heel was Hollywood Hogan for goodness sake!         Who better a Heel than the Philadelphia Eagles? The defending super bowl champions (🤮🤮🤮). The team whose fans cheered when Michael Irvin laid motionless on his back (something I will never forget). They got the title but it feels like they cheated, like they got outside interference. It just feels like we need a good guy in this situation. Somebody to come from the back and give the fans hope that all good will prevail. The someone is Sean ...

Cowboys lost to Rams.... Defense!!!

If you're reading this expecting me to bash the Cowboys defense stop reading now! The Cowboys have a struggling defense but that shouldn't be a surprise to anybody. The only way to build a championship team in today's NFL is to hit on some draft picks.  The Cowboys have invested a ton of money on the offensive side of the ball. They still have to pay Zach Martin this season. Also consider that they will have to pay Zeke and Dak at some point very soon. The only way to improve this defensive unit is via the draft. Look on the bright side, the Cowboys could be paying $200 million to defensive players and be sitting at 0-4 like the Giants.         Staying with the money aspect for just a second. Demarcus Lawrence (DLaw) and David Irving are up for contracts after this season. Lawrence was leading the league in sacks coming into week 4. Chances are they will only keep one of them. Byron Jones, a...

A More Aggressive Approach to Defense

With all the rule changes made in favor of the offenses in the NFL it is extremely hard to play defense. Defensive backs aren’t allowed to make any contact past five yards although most of the contact is initiated by the offensive player. Emphasis have been placed on getting to the quarterback because it’s hard to put together a good secondary to shut down passing attacks.  The basic defensive philosophies are to stop the run, prevent deep passes, and keep touchdowns off the board. With the emphasis on getting to the quarterback, coordinators have to be more creative in generating pressure.             Every team would love to have two bookend pass rushers like Von Miller and Demarcus Ware, but it doesn’t work that way. Pass rushers are at a premium and the chances of having two good ones is rare. Most teams have one good pass rusher and...
