We need you Dez!!!!!

With all the great and exciting new things going on with the Dallas Cowboys, its easy to forget about the great things they’ve had. The Cowboys have a great young nucleus but they also have some really good veteran pieces as well. Sean Lee made his first all-pro team last season and is considered one of the best linebackers in football. Jason Witten will retire as one of the best tight ends to ever play this game. Then that leads me to Dez Bryant, the “X-factor”. Since coming into the league in 2010 you have amazed Cowboys fans with your brilliant showcase of physical attributes.  Your body control, leaping ability, and overall physicality is second to none. The last two years have been tough on you health wise but this team will need you in order to make a super bowl run.
All great offenses usually have a good to great quarterback, a good to great running back, and a good great wide receiver. Dak is going into his second season and time will tell how good this young man will turn out to be. Zeke has already exhibited the skills that make a great running back. Dez is that last piece to the Cowboys current version of the triplets.

In 2014 Bryant lead the league in receiving touchdowns with 16. That year he also had 1320 yards receiving on 88 receptions. Those aren’t just good numbers they’re great numbers! The two season prior to 2014 he also had double digit touchdowns and over 1000 receiving yards. The point is when healthy Dez is beast! The only thing slowing him down is injuries. Luckily, for him he hasn’t had any major injuries (torn ligaments, broken bones, ruptured muscles, etc.). The Cowboys are going to need that 2014 Dez Bryant back. They need a legit number one receiver that will make the tough catches and catch the fade routes in the redzone.
I truly expect a great year from Dez. Defenses will be occupied with the rushing attack and for all you people that think defense will figure out the Cowboys, stop it! A run first philosophy isn’t anything new. This offensive scheme has been around since the beginning of football. The Cowboys are bigger and stronger than everyone else and you have to stop the run before you stop any other part of this offense.
I digress, with defenses committing to stopping the run Dez will see a lot of one on one, and high low coverage looks. They won’t be able to just double him because they’re going to need the safety in run support most times. Defense will shade the safety to his side to give the appearance of a double. That is when he will need to win those matchups, and make big plays. I predict 12 touchdowns, 1300 yards, and 90 receptions for Dez this year. Dak will be a lot more comfortable in the offense and will take more chances down the field. Those chances will go in Dez’s directions. Together those two will have a great season!

Marinelli..... Keep being special!

It was a time not so long ago when Jason Hatcher had a pro bowl season with 11 sacks. Hatcher was probably the last dominate pass rusher for the Dallas Cowboys. Since joining the team in 2013 Rob Marinelli has been the leader of the “JAG” (Just A Guy) committee, when it comes to pass rushers. He’s had some solid linemen, but none has been special. That probably will not change much this upcoming season.                 Drafting Taco Charlton was taking a position of need. Was he the best player available at his position? Only time will tell. Can he step in week one and be the pass rusher the Cowboys hope he can be? We will just have to wait in see. There are many questions surrounding Charlton, and he play was have to answer them. The consensus is that Charlton is a very talented but inconsistent player. He has shown flashes of being special at the collegiate level. The problem with that is if you’re inconsistent in college, you may struggle in the pros. The player

Calling on General Garrett

I have written a number of blog post about what we, as fans, expect from the players on this Cowboys team. Now let’s put some responsibility at the feet of Jason Garrett. In order for the Dallas Cowboys to make the jump to being a championship team they will need an A+ effort from their General. Jason Garrett is coming off an amazing season with the Dallas Cowboys  which lead to him receiving the coach of the year award. He was able to guide his team to a 13-3 record, a division title, and the best record in the NFC. They eventually lost to the Packers in the divisional round, but the Cowboys still had a good season. I still don’t think we have seen the best of Garrett’s coaching abilities. Since the three straight seasons going 8-8 from 2011-2013, Garrett has been an above average coach. It should be mentioned that in those three season the Cowboys playoff chances can down to the last game of the season. Some people blame Romo for those loses and some blame
