Shut up Ron Jaworski

It’s becoming harder and harder to judge quarterbacks in the NFL! Many people like to use the Super Bowl measuring stick. You know when your greatness is defined by how many super bowls wins the players has. The problem with using super bowls is that they’re a team accomplishments. Don’t get me wrong you must have at least one super bowl win in order to be considered great but it isn’t the end all be all.
Then you have the people that want to judge by the numbers. Those guys are like ESPN and take the states from a small period of a players career and match them up with the others. Stats to me are manipulated in the favor of whoever wants to win the argument. When discussing great players you have to use the entire body of work and not these segmented periods, to determine which one is better. Also stats are an direct reflection of the era of which the player played. Quarterbacks didn’t have to throw the ball 30 times a game in the 50s, 60s, or 70s. They didn’t throw as much in the 80s and 90s as they do now. In my opinion, stats aren’t a good barometer for determining greatness.
That leaves us with the eye test as the measuring stick. Its hard to be non-bias when using the eye test because most of the times a player caught your eye for one reason or another. For me it’s Cam Newton! I’m a huge Cam Newton fan, 99% of the things I say about Cam are going to be favorable. That means I’m looking at his game through rose colored glasses. Whichever method you want to use stand by it and own it. That leads me to Ron Jaworski.
Ron Jaworski shut the hell up! He has been quoted saying “Dak Prescott is already a top ten quarterback.” First off, this is the say guy that said “Colin Kaepernick is going to be the greatest QB to ever play the game.” Three years later, Kap is looking for team to play for. Jaws has no creditability. He wasn’t a great quarterback when he played, he isn’t able to judge a quarter any better than the next FAN!
The second thing is that Dak has only played one season in the league. We all know that I’m as big a Cowboys fan as anyone in the world. I understand that it takes time to be considered an elite quarterback. It also takes accomplishments, and winning rookie of the year isn’t enough to place him ahead of guys like Eli Manning or Phillip Rivers. I think Dak can have a huge year and can outperform those two (especially Eli because he is a bum) but he still hasn’t earned the node ahead of them.

Jaws you have a quarterback in Philly by the name of Carson Wentz that is pretty good. Spend more time talking about him and less time talking about my boy Dak! Dak will be fine this season and going forward. We also don’t need blessing of the great Ron Jaworiski to expedite he progression.

How to make a Return Sean Lee?

I was born in the 80s. That means that I lived through the greatest era of wrestling, the 90s-2000s. We don't have enough time in one blog to go over all the things that era of wrestling got right. One thing they did exceptionally well was wrestler returns. The Cowboys could steal a page out the WWF (now WWE) playbook as it pertains to Sean Lee's return. Daily build up, pyrotechnics, and a heel! Every great return needs a heel. Stings heel was Hollywood Hogan for goodness sake!         Who better a Heel than the Philadelphia Eagles? The defending super bowl champions (🤮🤮🤮). The team whose fans cheered when Michael Irvin laid motionless on his back (something I will never forget). They got the title but it feels like they cheated, like they got outside interference. It just feels like we need a good guy in this situation. Somebody to come from the back and give the fans hope that all good will prevail. The someone is Sean ...

Cowboys lost to Rams.... Defense!!!

If you're reading this expecting me to bash the Cowboys defense stop reading now! The Cowboys have a struggling defense but that shouldn't be a surprise to anybody. The only way to build a championship team in today's NFL is to hit on some draft picks.  The Cowboys have invested a ton of money on the offensive side of the ball. They still have to pay Zach Martin this season. Also consider that they will have to pay Zeke and Dak at some point very soon. The only way to improve this defensive unit is via the draft. Look on the bright side, the Cowboys could be paying $200 million to defensive players and be sitting at 0-4 like the Giants.         Staying with the money aspect for just a second. Demarcus Lawrence (DLaw) and David Irving are up for contracts after this season. Lawrence was leading the league in sacks coming into week 4. Chances are they will only keep one of them. Byron Jones, a...

A More Aggressive Approach to Defense

With all the rule changes made in favor of the offenses in the NFL it is extremely hard to play defense. Defensive backs aren’t allowed to make any contact past five yards although most of the contact is initiated by the offensive player. Emphasis have been placed on getting to the quarterback because it’s hard to put together a good secondary to shut down passing attacks.  The basic defensive philosophies are to stop the run, prevent deep passes, and keep touchdowns off the board. With the emphasis on getting to the quarterback, coordinators have to be more creative in generating pressure.             Every team would love to have two bookend pass rushers like Von Miller and Demarcus Ware, but it doesn’t work that way. Pass rushers are at a premium and the chances of having two good ones is rare. Most teams have one good pass rusher and...
