Five Keys to beating the 49ers!!!!

Cowboy Nation, it’s time to dust ourselves off and get ready for the reminder of the 2017 season. Yes, it was a rough 5-week start to the season, but it isn’t over and the Cowboys are still in great position to get the job done. The bye week has come and gone. At this point, I’m ready to put everything that went on the first 5 weeks, in the back of my mind and approach the reminder of the season with renewed faith.             The Dallas Cowboys take on the San Francisco 49ers. Many Cowboys fans have taken the confident approach and have turned their noses up at the 49ers. They think that this is a non-contest and the Cowboys should win this game going away, be careful. This 49ers team has lost 5 straight games by 3 points or less. If there is any team due (due theory) for a win it’s the 49ers. Salmon Thomas and Deforest Buckner are s...

Blind Hope... Faith

Remember in the movie Superbad, when Seth was going through extreme heights just to score with Jules. He had somehow convinced himself that Jules liked him and that he was going to score with her at the party she was throwing. That is how it feels to be a Cowboys fan right now. We have convinced ourselves that this team is going to score (win a super bowl) with the NFL. Its funny that the fans are the ones that have gone to the extreme heights because this team is no different than last year’s team. That isn’t a negative but if a team didn’t get any better from the previous year then how can the fans expect the team to achieve something different than they did a year ago?             Fans have blind hope in their team, it’s part of the fandom. You want to believe your team improved. The players put in the work in the offseason and got better. The coaches put in some amazing new game plan to feat...

5 points of Emphasis for the Bye Week!!!!

In my opinion, the Cowboys bye week came at the perfect time of the season. Zeke got the stay for his suspension overturned, and will begin serving his suspension. Stephen Pea decided he wanted to retired. The Cowboys had seen enough of Nolan Carroll to release him (to the delight of many Cowboys fans). Not to mention the terrible start to this season. The Cowboys needed time to regroup and now they have a week off to do it. What should they be doing on this break? Getting back to the basics             The running game is the driving force for this team. It has been inconsistent for the first five weeks of the season. They have had solid rushing performances in every game except the Broncos game, but the running game hasn’t been as effective as it was last season. The Cowboys are seeing that teams are focusing on stopping...

I've Seen the Error of My Ways.... Defense Please

Allow me to apologize. I’m sorry to all of Cowboys nations, as I have made a mistake. I was one of those Cowboys fans that was standing tall for this defense. I even went as hard to call out the offense for not doing enough to win games. After that Cardinals game, I jumped all over Scott Linnehan and Jason Garrett for a lack of creativity for this offense. My argument, at the time, was that the offense had the three all pro linemen, pro bowl QB, pro bowl running back, and a pro bowl wide receiver. I now see the error of my ways, and I must ask for forgiveness.             The Cowboys have scored 28, 31, and 30 points in their last three games. Their record is 1-2 in those three games. Thirty points use to be enough to win in the NFL, considering that the league leader in points per game is KC (32.8). Only two teams average over 30 points per game this season. The point is that when your offense scores ...

Defense shines bright Today!!!!!

Game day is here! The Cowboys will be taking on the Packers, today, at 4:15 pm EST. This is a big game for the Cowboys. It’s a chance to get back on the winning path. Much has been made about the Packers, mostly because they have the best quarterback in the game, Aaron Rodgers. Outside of Rodgers this Packers team is mediocre. I think this will be a statement win, and a win that will bode well for the Cowboys in the standings later in the season. Demarcus “DLAW” Lawrence             DLaw is the NFL sack leader (7.5) through the first four weeks of the season. He has had in impact in every game. I would love for him to play the run better, but I will settle for him getting to the quarterback.             This is a game tailor made for Lawrence. The Packers may be without their starting tackles. The offensive line for the ...

Five Keys to beating the Packers

It’s been an up and down start to the 2017 season for the Dallas Cowboys. I haven’t reached the sky is falling phase yet for this team. In the grand scheme of things, this team is still right where they want to be. They’re one game out of first place for the Division and the Conference. They still have to play Philly and the Redskins twice. This team already has one division win in its hat. Everything that the Cowboys hope to accomplish this year, is still very much attainable. Most reasonable fans looked at this schedule, at the beginning of the season and knew that it would be tougher rode for the Cowboys. This team wasn’t going 16-0 and it’s better to struggle now, early in the season, as oppose to late in the year when the games matter most.             With that out the way, the Cowboys have a lot of work to do in order to get back to the 2016 team that we s...

Cowboys lost to Rams.... Defense!!!

If you're reading this expecting me to bash the Cowboys defense stop reading now! The Cowboys have a struggling defense but that shouldn't be a surprise to anybody. The only way to build a championship team in today's NFL is to hit on some draft picks.  The Cowboys have invested a ton of money on the offensive side of the ball. They still have to pay Zach Martin this season. Also consider that they will have to pay Zeke and Dak at some point very soon. The only way to improve this defensive unit is via the draft. Look on the bright side, the Cowboys could be paying $200 million to defensive players and be sitting at 0-4 like the Giants.         Staying with the money aspect for just a second. Demarcus Lawrence (DLaw) and David Irving are up for contracts after this season. Lawrence was leading the league in sacks coming into week 4. Chances are they will only keep one of them. Byron Jones, a...
