R-E-L-A-X Cowboys fans!!!!!

Cowboys fan are you ready to plant your feet firmly on the ground now? The Cowboys have high expectations set for them in 2017, and rightfully so. They won 13 games last year. Last year the rookies looked great and the thought is that they would come in more experienced. They beat the one team that swept them last season. Everything has been going right for this Cowboys team and now they finally have some adversity to face.
When everything goes your way and things appear to be easy, you begin to read the press clippings. The fans start shouting "Super Bowl" loud enough for everyone to hear it. These players and this coaching staff needed a wake up call. The Cowboys had a lot of turnover, this offseason,  on the defensive side of the ball. You had to be insane or delusional to think that this Cowboys wouldn't struggle at times this season. The defense was already bad, throw in 4 rookies and a lackluster pass rush and you get a 42-17 ass whooping.
Rob Marinelli is an excellent defensive coordinator but he is going to have to either trust these young guys more or get more aggressive on defense. This soft shell defense isn't working. It was effective against the Giants because their offense is terrible. Going forward, that soft zone is gonna get this defense exposed. Allow these young corners to put their hands on the receivers. Let them come up and make plays in the run game to get some confidence. Roll safeties around and blitz from the outside. Deion Sanders isn't walking through that door! The Rookie cornerbacks aren't going to get more experienced overnight. It's going to be the job of the coordinator to get creative with this secondary.
Marinelli is the man for the job because he wants to get to the quarterback rushing four players. He will continue to drop 6-7 players on coverage. Dropping that many players will give them more opportunities to be player makers and the game will start to slow down. It's a process people, and it's going to take the entire season to get these guys ready to play. Jourdan Lewis had the best game in the secondary and he didn't play in the preseason or  week one against the Giants. Every time these young players step on the field it's a win for the Cowboys. As fans we have to be patient with this team.
That was a tough game for Dak Prescott and this Cowboys offense. The Broncos have a good defense, but this Cowboys offense isn't that bad. Dak was off all game. There wasn't any room to run, and the receivers struggled to get open. That's life in the NFL! There will be games like this and it's good that Dak, Zeke, and this offensive line saw a defense like this. Now it's time to see how this team and their coaching staff responds.
Adjustments have to be made and the Cowboys may have to make a trade or bring in a free agent for help. This secondary will continue to struggle because their young. The offense has to pick up that slack. We can’t look at a stat sheet and see that Zeke only had 9 carries. Even in a loss like this the Cowboys have to stick with their identity. They're a run first team and not many teams can stop them when they're playing smash mouth. There wasn't much room to run  in that game against Denver but Dak can't throw the ball 50 times in any game.
All you Dak "I told you so’ers." Those people doubling down on your, “he isn't the guy point.” Dak will be fine. This team is realizing that Dez isn't playing like the same player he once was. Terrace Williams and Brice Butler are inconsistent. There are guys in the league that can cover Beasley. I was watching the Chiefs game and they have a ton of creative formations. They motion wide receivers. They hand the ball off to the wide receiver. Their wide receivers are very active in the screen game. The same is said about the Falcons. Hell the sorry ass Bengals understand that if you're best wide receiver isn't getting separation straight up then you motion that receiver. Putting him in motion doesn't allow the cornerback to put his hands on Dez and be physical. Also Dez is able to get a running start into his routes. Why can't the Cowboys hand the ball off to Beasley or Switzer? Where are the Cowboys trips and bunch formations? I swear a screen pass to anyone is a great way to slow down a pass rush and help your struggling right tackle.
Quarterbacks in this league need a rhythm to get the offense going. Just ask Aaron Rodgers! The screen game is a perfect way for Dak to use his escapability and athleticism. He can get into a rhythm and get some completions under his belt before having to make a 15 yard throw on third down. Where is the read option? Let's stop trying to make Dak Romo and start using him more. Dak can hurt defenses with his athleticism. When the running game isn’t working it's time to get creative. Let Dak keep the ball sometimes to hold these defensive ends. It will allow the Cowboys the set the edge better.
The reason I'm on the offense so hard is because they’re suppose to be the unit that carries this team. The offense has 3 all pro offensive line, a pro bowl quarterback, a pro bowl running back, and a pro bowl wide receiver. The offense can't afford to not score 30+ points a game. The more pressure this offense puts on the other team's offense the better the chances are for turnovers. This defense is what it is, mediocre at best. The offense has to be special every game and the weren't.

This lose came at a perfect time of the year. They are still options as far as acquiring players. They have the rest of the season to get these rookies ready. Dak knows that teams are going to make him beat them. He will have to push for more creativity in the offense. This is the wake up call this Cowboys team and this fan base needed. We want them to contend for a super bowl and they're good enough, but it's going to take a better effort than the one we all saw Sunday. Nobody is afraid of the Cowboys or this offensive line. Teams still don't think Dak can beat them. Defenses want the feather in their hats for shutting down this highly praise Cowboys offense. This was round two of the prize fight, let's get the smelling salt, water, and vaseline ready. This team isn't down, beat up a little bit, but they can see the other fighter smiling, and that better make them mad ass hell!

Marinelli..... Keep being special!

It was a time not so long ago when Jason Hatcher had a pro bowl season with 11 sacks. Hatcher was probably the last dominate pass rusher for the Dallas Cowboys. Since joining the team in 2013 Rob Marinelli has been the leader of the “JAG” (Just A Guy) committee, when it comes to pass rushers. He’s had some solid linemen, but none has been special. That probably will not change much this upcoming season.                 Drafting Taco Charlton was taking a position of need. Was he the best player available at his position? Only time will tell. Can he step in week one and be the pass rusher the Cowboys hope he can be? We will just have to wait in see. There are many questions surrounding Charlton, and he play was have to answer them. The consensus is that Charlton is a very talented but inconsistent player. He has shown flashes of being special at the coll...

We need you Dez!!!!!

With all the great and exciting new things going on with the Dallas Cowboys, its easy to forget about the great things they’ve had. The Cowboys have a great young nucleus but they also have some really good veteran pieces as well. Sean Lee made his first all-pro team last season and is considered one of the best linebackers in football. Jason Witten will retire as one of the best tight ends to ever play this game. Then that leads me to Dez Bryant, the “X-factor”. Since coming into the league in 2010 you have amazed Cowboys fans with your brilliant showcase of physical attributes.  Your body control, leaping ability, and overall physicality is second to none. The last two years have been tough on you health wise but this team will need you in order to make a super bowl run.             All great offenses usually have a good to great quarterback, a good to great running back, and ...

Calling on General Garrett

I have written a number of blog post about what we, as fans, expect from the players on this Cowboys team. Now let’s put some responsibility at the feet of Jason Garrett. In order for the Dallas Cowboys to make the jump to being a championship team they will need an A+ effort from their General. Jason Garrett is coming off an amazing season with the Dallas Cowboys  which lead to him receiving the coach of the year award. He was able to guide his team to a 13-3 record, a division title, and the best record in the NFC. They eventually lost to the Packers in the divisional round, but the Cowboys still had a good season. I still don’t think we have seen the best of Garrett’s coaching abilities. Since the three straight seasons going 8-8 from 2011-2013, Garrett has been an above average coach. It should be mentioned that in those three season the Cowboys playoff chances can down to the last game of the season. Some people blame Romo for those loses and some b...
